FAQs

What is MMA?
Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full contact combat sport that allows a wide variety of fighting techniques, from a mixture of martial arts traditions and non-traditions, to be used in competitions. The rules allow the use of striking and grappling techniques, both while standing and on the ground. Such competitions allow martial artists of different backgrounds to compete.

Asking for MMA Sponsorship?
Manager or Fighter that is asking for sponsorship need to remember to keep it professional, because that is how it should be treated as a professional.  When asking for money, you must answer one basic question, "why should i give you money"?  You must be able to pitch yourself or your fighter as to why its a smart investment.  Information is about the fighter is key when asking for anything.  A well drawn up Bio packet with fighter details, where they have fought, titles, grappling tournaments, goals, etc, That can be included in a Q&A section of their bio packet.  Don't forget photos, video of fights if any?  Be professional always and make sure when contacting potential sponsor's use a proper email address.  Not anything that says your not professional like " This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ".

Be clear and precise about what you need, what you can offer for advertisement for sponsor (banner, shirt, shorts, etc) with different price options. Where fighter is being seen (tv, internet etc), and why they can not pass up sponsoring your fighter.  Always give plenty of notice when asking for anything, a few days out just dont work.  A couple weeks or longer will give enough time for a decision.

Work on building a long lasting relationship with a small number of sponsors, that way your not running into cross branding sponsors logo's over the clothing and banner.  Have you ever seen a banner that has so many sponsors on it you can read but just a few at the top or middle?  Let alone remember all of them, compared to the fighter that has 6 or less that has more impact to the viewer.  That is what sponsors are looking for when their logo is being advertise, what is their placement, who else is on there (competitors) how many different logos are there?  These can affect weather or not your sponsor stays after your deal is over.  Dont oversell your space and end up cross branding sponsors against each other, pick a couple that you really like and think would have a long lasting relationship and build off of that to start.
